​The Land We’re On
Soulful Seeds is a grassroots nonprofit serving the Northern Nevada community. We operate gardens on the ancestral lands of the Wasi-siw, (the people from here), known today as the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, and the Numu (Northern Paiute). We acknowledge that our gardens grow both indigenous and colonized crops. We make every effort to honor the Indigenous Peoples past, present, and future and this land through the integration of regenerative land practices. We encourage the community to join us in learning more about the history of this land, our local sovereign nations, and indigenous foods.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commitment
The integrity of Soulful Seeds is dependent on our ability to serve the community in a way that benefits everyone, especially communities that have been excluded from the benefits of social and environmental progress. We see food, social, and environmental justice issues as intrinsically linked to social justice issues. As a result, we recognize the responsibility and role we carry in not just food and environmental justice but also in modeling a better way of doing business.

Soulful Seeds is firmly committed to providing diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI) work environments, gardens, and service programs. Our commitment to DEI is central to upholding our mission of providing fresh, healthy food to the most vulnerable in the community. The most vulnerable community members are those that are disproportionately impacted by hunger.

We are committed to accessibility. We intentionally distribute to food pantries in disproportionately impacted zip codes. Targeting surplus produce to home bound seniors and veterans.

We are committed to fostering inclusion and empowerment in our gardens and through our programs. This begins from the top. We include diverse perspectives and identities from our board of directors all the way through our volunteers. We welcome people of all ages, abilities, gender identities, races, and ethnicities.

We believe there is a place for everyone in the garden. Discrimination is not tolerated under any circumstances.
